Gary J. Gorham is a Partner and head of the West Coast Litigation Department of Richardson & Patel. Based in Los Angeles, Mr. Gorham brings extensive experience throughout the United States in litigation and trial. He handles a wide variety of commercial disputes, with particular focus on intellectual property, securities and employment issues. Among other successes, Mr. Gorham has obtained the following results: Obtained denial of class certification and dismissal of a claim for violation of privacy rights in federal court, on behalf of a prominent social media company; Won a complete defense verdict at arbitration, and collected attorneys’ fees as a prevailing party, on claims for lost profits on the Twilight film franchise; Obtained a jury verdict of $5.4 million in federal court on claims for copyright infringement and misappropriation of likeness arising from counterfeit goods; Successfully resolved a three-year shareholder battle on behalf of the majority shareholder in a closely held company, litigated in state and federal court; Favorably resolved a trade secret and non-compete dispute with claims filed in both New York and California, with settlement following summary judgment in favor of a departing group of employees and acquiring company; Litigated and favorably resolved patent suits in California, Texas, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey and Connecticut; Litigated and favorably resolved numerous trademark and copyright actions; and Defended and obtained favorable settlement of consumer class actions in California, Illinois and Mississippi.
Mr. Gorham received his Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from SUNY Albany in 1985 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Syracuse University College of Law in 1993. He was a law clerk to U.S. District Court Judge Howard G. Munson and a partner in Liner Yankelevitz Sunshine & Regenstreif (now Liner Grode Stein Yankelevitz Sunshine Regenstreif & Taylor) prior to forming his own firm, Leader Gorham LLP in 2007. Mr. Gorham joined Richardson & Patel as a partner in January 2012. |
